Faculty of agronomy and forestry

The faculty provides training in the following specializations:

Bachelor degree programs:

  • Agronomy
  • Horticulture
  • Forestry
  • Technologies of logging and woodworking industry

Field, vegetable, fruit crops and their sorts, soil and its fertility, the earth as a natural resource, production technologies, storage of plant products and their processing-these are the objects of the future agronomists’ work.

The objects of the horticulturist’s work are fruit trees, fruit and berry crops, decorative crops and herbs, grapes and their sorts, genetic collections of garden plants, selective process, hazardous organisms and protective measures against them, technologies of processing horticulture products, park and garden landscapes, soil and its fertility, orchards and vineyards.

The objects of the professional occupation of a specialist in forestry, logging and woodwork are forests, objects of landscape construction and aesthetic forestry, landscape architecture; reproduction and improvement of flora species compositions, quality of wood, park and garden plantation; their productivity and raise of decorativeness; revival and saving of gene resources, harmonious exploitation of forests; care of natural area of preferential protection and objects of landscape construction.

Master’s degree programs:

  • Forest reproduction
  • Innovative technologies in plant growing

Postgraduate training programs:

  • Forest crops, selection, seed breeding
  • Forest science, tree breeding, forest management, forest estimation

Training base of the faculty

The faculty has two separate academic buildings with classrooms, 19 specialized academic laboratories of the departments and an interdepartmental laboratory for agrochemical analysis.

Practical base of the faculty:

  • an experimental field;
  • a dendrological garden;
  • scientific-experimental forest area;
  • the fields of an instructional farm;
  • instructional farming enterprises.
